The “eternal humanity” of Christ is, I believe, perhaps the deepest Mystery of the New Testament that needs to be explored – mined for its riches (“all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” – Col. 2:1) even “exploited“ (in the best sense of the word).
This is the grounding of so many things of which Paul speaks: the Mystery that lies “beneath” (if you will) “Christ and him crucified” (1 Cor.2)…. and the largely unrecognized and unrealized “treasure” that lies deep (and largely hidden) within every human being (“we have these treasures in earthen vessels” 2 Cor.4:7) – made in (and being restored to) the Image of the God-Man, Jesus Christ.
